The law firm of Shlesinger, Arkwright & Garvey LLP was founded more than sixty years ago in Washington, D.C., by B. Edward Shlesinger, Sr. In 1951, his son, B. Edward Shlesinger, Jr. was placed in charge of the firm.

The firm handles both national and international intellectual property law matters, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, unfair competition, international trade, technology transfer, licensing, industrial design, litigation and related matters.

The firm presently has five attorneys whose combined background encompass all of the technical disciplines, including biotechnology, electronics, computers, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, physics and chemistry. The firm has two full time trademark and copyright attorneys.

The firm is equipped to handle all intellectual property law matters, particularly concentrating in patent and trademark search, and prosecution before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and foreign patent offices. The firm maintains a heavy search and prosecution docket and has been involved in various litigation matters before various U.S. Federal Courts and Agencies, including the U.S. International Trade Commission.
